  1. The Union Nationale was a nationalistic Qu├⌐bec provincial political party. Formed in 1935 as a coalition of the Qu├⌐bec Conservative Party and the Action Lib├⌐rale Nationale, the Union Nationale quickly became a single party under its leader, Maurice Duplessis. Between 1944 and 1959, when Duplessis died, Qu├⌐bec politics was dominated by the Union Nationale.
